How It Works
The Body Mass Index (BMI) is calculated using your height and weight to determine if you're in a healthy weight range. The formula used is:
BMI = weight (kg) / (height (m))² For imperial units: BMI = (weight (lb) / (height (in))²) × 703
BMI Categories:
- Underweight: Less than 18.5
- Normal weight: 18.5 to 24.9
- Overweight: 25 to 29.9
- Obese: 30 or greater
Note: BMI is a general guide and may not be accurate for athletes, elderly people, or during pregnancy.
